The day his 2024 horror hit found out he won four Oscar nominations (in cinematography, production design, costume design, makeup and hair) and the day After Fans have learned that the Eggers will tackle A 13th century werewolf film For a Christmas release in 2026, we have now confirmed that Its previously teased Labyrinth project is indeed happening.
A Labyrinth Monitoring has been ongoing since At least 2017—At Fede Alvarez (Alien: Romulus) has been floated as a potential director, as has Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, The Black Phone). But you have to guess that the project’s roots go back even further, as Jennifer Connelly, David Bowie, and an array of Muppets, remained a beloved favorite in the decades of David Bowie and an array of Muppets. Today’s news, via Deadlinetells us that Eggers “closed his deal to write and direct a new Labyrinth for the photos of Tristar.
There are no plot details yet, but the trade reports that “the film is a sequel, rather than a remake” and that Eggers will co-write with Sjón, his former collaborator in 2022 The north and his current collaborator the 2026 Werwulf. Additionally, “Chris and Eleanor Columbus will produce alongside Lisa Henson, with Brian Henson Executive Producing.”
Even with no more Intex Labyrinth What happens next would certainly signal a departure for Eggers. This would be a film still in the highly detailed realms of fantasy horror that he is comfortable inhabiting, but presumably with a more family-friendly or at least gentler story behind it. Jim Henson caused a nightmare or two with The dark crystallet’s not forget.
