In keeping with creator Robert Kirkman’s promise not to keep fans waiting, Invincible revealed several star additions to its highly anticipated third season ahead of its February premiere on Prime Video.
Join Steven Yeun and JK Simmons in Invincible the third season is (deep breath) Aaron Paul and Jonathan Banks from Break the bad fame; Shang-Chi himself, Simu Liu; Kate Mara (she was Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four film that we don’t talk about); Blue beetle And Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña, the incomparable John DiMaggio (Futurama)Tzi Ma (Mulan)Doug Bradley (Pinhead of Hellraiser), and Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth, The Monkey).
Rather than leaving InvincibleDuring the casting announcement worthy of a pop culture crossover event, Prime Video also revealed who its new lineup of Hollywood actors would be playing from Kirkman’s bestselling graphic novels. Here’s a quick look at the who’s who, their superpowers, and their allegiances in relation to the Guardians of the Globe and Invincible himself, Mark Grayson.
- Powerplex (Paul): A new villain with an emotional past, Powerplex absorbs energy, allowing him to use an enemy’s strength against him. And this enemy is invincible.
- Becky Duvall (Mara): With a deep hatred for Invincible, Becky works with Powerplex to bring justice that she believes has been denied.
- The Elephant (DiMaggio): A serious villain with a serious name and a serious look. He wants the world to stop eating meat. He probably wants something else too. It doesn’t matter as long as it’s taken seriously…by someone. Please.
- Mr. Liu (Ma): Beneath this wizened exterior, he is the ruthless leader of the Order, an international crime syndicate. But that’s not all this mysterious old man is hiding.
- Fightmaster & Dropkick (Maridueña): Freedom-fighting twins from a troubled future, they are willing to risk everything in a desperate quest to save their world.
- Oliver Grayson (Convery): Mark’s younger brother was a toddler the last time we saw him, but when you’re half Viltrumite and half Thraxan, you grow up REALLY fast.
- Multi-Paul (Liu): An elite assassin in Mr. Liu’s secret criminal organization, Multi-Paul has taken the opposite path from his sister Dupli-Kate. But blood is thicker than water…
Seen how Invincible is an animated series in which villains and heroes can bite the dust at any time, hoping that its new cast members can show off their voice acting skills before their characters are 86 in a big and bloody way. Should their passing occur, we will be sure to keep a memory for them alongside Mark’s classic yellow and blue jumpsuit.
