Nina Dobrev reflects on the devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires – and encourages his fans to do the same.

“Hi everyone. It’s been such a tragic time in LA recently,” Dobrev, 36, said on Sunday, January 19. Instagram job. “I felt really sick to my stomach at all the destruction and devastation that these fires have caused and displaced so many families. My heart is broken for everyone affected by these wildfires.

Dobrev said she was one of tens of thousands of people who evacuated their homes due to wildfires that started earlier this month. Dobrev left his home on January 9, his 36th birthday.

“This is definitely not how I planned to spend my birthday,” Dobrev said. “But I wanted to make this video to thank everyone for their birthday wishes and make a request. I don’t know about you, but I feel survivor’s guilt.

Dobrev noted that her house was “close to one of the fires,” but she ultimately “made it.” She added: “But so many others haven’t been so lucky. »

Dobrev encouraged his followers to donate, linking in his bio a spreadsheet that highlights the GoFundMe links of “many families” who lost their homes.

“What people really need right now is financial assistance to help them get back on their feet and start rebuilding their lives and their homes,” she said. “The Pacific Palisades, and the Altadena-Pasadena community, in particular, need it most.”

For her birthday, Dobrev donated to GoFundMe pages and said she would “love it” if her followers could do the same – donations big or small.

“I put myself in the place of all these people whose the houses burned on the ground with their possessions, their memories, everything that made them feel safe in a world now gone, and their confidence has abandoned them,” Dobrev said. “For some of them, the level of tragedy is immeasurable and really difficult to understand. They lost everything.

Dobrev said his heart broke into ‘a million pieces’ for the families affected by fires. Dobrev concluded her video by sharing that she was thinking of those affected, saying, “My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.”

“The devastation in Los Angeles is immeasurable and heartbreaking 💔 This is my cry for help. For my birthday, my only wish this year is that you help a family in need,” Dobrev captioned his post. “I made a donation to the families on the Google doc linked in my bio. If you have seen all the photos and videos online and would also like to help, please consider donating as well. There is a section dedicated to black families and other historically marginalized groups in the Altadena community who have been hit particularly hard.
