SNL Recap: Dave Chappelle Jokes He Was Too ‘Ugly’ For Diddy Parties


Dave Chappelle returned to host Saturday evening live Saturday January 18, kicking off the episode with a 17-minute opening monologue.

Chappelle, 51, discussed a whole series of subjectss, including Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ ongoing legal battles.

“It’s not fun to be famous anymore. It’s like you made it scary,” the comedian said amid his opening remarks. “I feel like I’m storming the beaches of Normandy in World War II, but I have to keep a happy expression on my face the whole time. So, imagine all the danger that storms the beach, but I still have (a smile).

He continued: “Bullets are flying and things are exploding; I’m just like (happy). Then every once in a while something terrible happens and I’m like, “Oh, Puffy got hit.” And Puffy says, ‘Oh, keep playing playboy.’ I kicked that bitch in the face and forgot about it.

Diddy, who previously went by the name Puff Diddy and later P. Diddy, was indicted by a grand jury in September 2024 shortly before he was arrested for sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. A 14-page indictment — which cited Diddy’s infamous parties, nicknamed “Freak-Offs” — claimed that Diddy “abused, threatened and coerced the women and others around him” for decades.

Diddy, 55, has repeatedly denied the allegations and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In his SNL monologue, Chappelle further stated that Diddy “has an awful lot of problems.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like this,” Chappelle said. “They caught this guy all by himself in a Rico case. My friends ask me, “Dave, did you know something about these weird parties?’ I would say, “No, man. I don’t know anything about panic.

Chappelle then alluded to the possibility that his anonymous acquaintances had previously attended Diddy’s infamous rallies.

“They were like, ‘Well, how are these people that (you) know were at this point, but you’re the only one who isn’t?’ I thought about it for a minute and said, “Oh, my God, I’m ugly.” Gosh, that’s a tough way to find out. Can you imagine if you were me reading a newspaper and finding out that everyone in Hollywood was having an orgy behind your back?

Chappell, however, was ultimately relieved that he was never invited to one of Diddy’s parties given the ongoing scandal.

“I’m glad they didn’t call me, because the stories going around about this are crazy,” he said. “Obviously I have snitch energy.”

Sean “Diddy” Combs will appear in court after being arrested on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The rapper, 54, is expected to appear before Judge Andrew Carter in U.S. District Court at 3:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 18 to appeal Federal Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky’s decision to deny him bail, according to (. ..)

Diddy is currently incarcerated at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center until his trial, which is taking place it is planned to start later this year. A judge denied him bail in four separate appeals.

“We are disappointed in the decision to pursue what we consider to be an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney said. Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he can’t wait to clear his name in court. »
