UK stocks are higher at close of trading; Investing.com UK 100 up 0.33% By Investing.com



Investing.com – UK stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, with gains in , and sectors leading stocks higher.

At the close in London, the index rose 0.33%, hitting an all-time high.

The best performers of the session were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.99% or 2.34 points to trade at 61.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON:) added 2.59% or 3.20 points to end at 127.00 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.55% or 136.00 points at 5,466.00 in late trading.

The worst performers of the session were Pershing Square Holdings Ltd. (LON:), which fell 2.74% or 118.00 points to trade at 4,182.00 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:) fell 2.65% or 53.00 points to end at 1,949.00 and Movement to the right PLC (LON:) was down 2.56% or 17.00 points at 647.40.

On the London Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered falling ones by 952 to 851, with 608 ending unchanged.

Gold futures for February delivery rose 0.45%, or 12.25, to $2,760.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for March delivery fell 1.65% or 1.28 to $76.11 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.91%. or 0.73 to trade at $79.42 per barrel.

GBP/USD was 0.04% unchanged at 1.23, while EUR/GBP was 0.06% unchanged at 0.85.

U.S. dollar index futures were down 1.30% at 107.79.
