In the playoff match of Big Bash League (BBL) | 14 between Sydney Thunder And Melbourne Starsfans at the Sydney Showground Stadium were treated to some unforgettable moments during the first innings of the match. Among the highlights of the match was a special celebration hosted by the Melbourne Stars player. Doug Warren after taking the crucial wicket of Sydney Thunder keeper-batsman Sam Billings.

Doug Warren’s Frozen Celebration

The wicket came in the 12th over of the Sydney Thunder innings. Warren, with his crisp spin, delivered a pivotal moment when he dismissed Billings for 24 runs (off 25 balls). Billings, who had been the Thunder’s designated hitter, was crucial for his team, and his dismissal dealt a major blow to their hopes of posting a substantial total. It was the reverse sweep that led to Billings’ downfall.

Despite making good contact with the ball, he hit it straight towards Tom Curranparked at a deep point back. The catch was well executed by Curran, who made a low catch without any problems. Billings’ departure left the Thunder reeling as the Stars celebrated their breakthrough. Billings’ score included four boundaries, but that wasn’t enough to keep him in the middle for much longer.

Tom Curran’s first strike: David Warner goes for a duck

Earlier in the match, Melbourne Stars bowler Curran made his mark in the first over of the Thunder’s innings. The Stars got off to an ideal start when David Warnerone of the biggest threats on the Thunder roster, was dismissed for a duck. Warner, known for his aggressive style, was caught by the skipper Marcus Stoinis after attempting a cut shot on Curran’s delivery.

The ball appeared to have stopped on Warner, leaving him unable to control the shot, which fell straight into the hands of Stoinis at cover. Warner’s opening wicket sent shockwaves through the Thunder camp, and the Stars were delighted to have gotten rid of such a dangerous player so quickly. It was an inspired decision by Stars management to let Curran play first, a decision that paid off immediately.

Curran strikes again

As the Thunder attempted to recover, Curran returned to bowling in the 18th over, this time striking once more to dismiss him. Olivier Davies for 36 (from 35 balls). Davies had played a key role in keeping the Thunder’s innings going with two boundaries and a six, but his departure came at a crucial time.

Curran delivered a smart, slower ball from the back of his hand, which dipped full length and completely fooled Davies. Ignoring the slower delivery, Davies attempted a high shot but mistimed it, sending the ball straight wide, where Peter Handscomb made no mistake in completing the capture.
